Etawah

Etawah is a city and Nagar Palika in Barhpura Block Etawah Tehsil in Etawah District of Uttar Pradesh.
Etawah is situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, in south-central Uttar Pradesh and is 122 km northeast of Agra. It is the administrative headquarters of Etawah District.
The town is divided into old town (south) and new town (north) by the river.
Etawah is home to many cotton and silk weaving industries, oilseed mills and is an important market for `ghee' (clarified butter) as well. The town also has one of the biggest `khoya' (sweet meat) markets in the state.

The ruins of a 15th century fort and a cluster of surrounding temples are worth a visit at Etawah.
Nearest airport is at Agra. Lucknow is 175 km southeast of Etawah.
